Quora
Cashing in Stage 3
Quora’s early surplus was real: experts answering questions in depth, for free. The extraction phase brought ads, paid subscriptions, and machine-generated answers placed on question pages beside—and trained on—the human ones. The company’s energy has moved to Poe, its AI chatbot product. The human answers are still there and still useful, but the platform is now built around repackaging them. Stage 3.
